2018 CYCLE LIFE CHALLENGE – 4th RIDE – FoTan to Sheung Shui, Hong Kong

This is my 4th ride for the 2018 Cycle Life Challenge which took place on last Sunday, 25 March 2018.

This was another group ride with nearly the same team as in last ride plus a number of new faces. We took the new bike path extension linking Taipo to Fanling and arrived at our destination in Sheung Shui. A ride from the city to the rural area in the New Terrirories of Hong Kong.

    Hi Gary,

Thanks for sharing. It has been about 35 years since I was in Hong Kong, but I remember it fondly. Speaking of bike paths that never quite seem to get finished, we have some of those around here as well. 🙂

    Ride safe!

Just a visit with my ace support crew. Spent a few days in HK before and after a 3-week tour of the PRC, where I did a tiny amount of cycling.

Thanks for sharing your ride! Lots of smiling faces which is good. The high rise developments on the other side of the road on the bike path near Fanling looked interesting. The pointed upper stories make the buildings very distinctive (at least from an Australian perspective!). Do you generally have decent weather at this time of year in Hong Kong? I’ve never been there so don’t have much knowledge. Emily

Areas like Tuen Mun, Fanling & Sheung Shui in the New Territories used to be villages many many years ago. The scene changed rapidly in the last two decades along with the development of new towns in these areas. They are now populated with high rise buildings just like those in the city areas.

Other than spring time, the weather is quite good and usually filled with bright sunlight.
