2018 CYCLE LIFE CHALLENGE – 7th RIDE – FoTan to the old Hong Kong Frontier at Lo Wu, Hong Kong

Old Hong Kong Frontier at Lo Wu

This is my 7th ride for the 2018 Cycle Life Challenge which took place on last Sunday, 22 April 2018.

This time I will take you to one of the historical spots of Hong Kong – the old Hong Kong Frontier at Lo Wu.

With the transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong from the United Kingdom to China, the frontier ceased to exist.

Live in Hong Kong who love to ride.

Always interesting to read about your rides, Gary! Reminded me a little of Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin in the old days!
    Thanks for sharing your ride!

Thank you Suzanne. Despite the 2018 CLC is about to be ended shortly, I will keep posting my rides. Cheers.

Gary, Great ride! It looks like you have a very energetic and high-spirited team. I crossed the border from HK by train in 1984. At that time I was told there was no way to cross by bicycle.

Thank you Bill. I believed you were taking the direct train from Hong Kong to China via the old Lo Wu railway bridge. It is true that cycling across the border was not allowed as Hong Kong was still under the sovereignty of UK at that time.

It was until mid 2013 that the frontier closed area had been reduced and quite a lot of areas like Lo Wu had been opened to public for visit.

Visitors who would like to cycle in China from Hong Kong can now bring along their bikes across the control station at Lo Wu.
