A couple of trees

I went out looking for trees this morning.

There is an area called Devon Hills near Perth in Tasmania containing a heap of lifestyle properties 25 acres and up.  There are two good things about it – quiet roads and mature trees.  Unfortunately sod’s law worked to ensure most trees were on the side of the road that features power cables.  I did get a couple though.

The eucalyptus tree on the left is quite something but I would say it looks heaps better in real life than in the image.  The one on the right has suffered a bit of storm damage at some stage.

The second tree is a Wattle.  An early flowering wattle for Tassie as most come out in July / August.  The picture is an HDR merge of 3 images and it hasn’t worked precisely.  The tree was being blown about too much.  But I think you get the idea!

Really nice tree shots, Tony! The rainbow and naked branches, the towering eucalyptus and the yellow blossoming wattle, picking up the colors on your trike – all great captures!

Thanks Suzanne. I will go back though and try the wattle again later this week. I can use the HDR software differently but accidentally deleted the 3 images to be processed!

Agrees with Suzanne — the rainbow photo especially.

Nice rainbow, Tony. That would be a heck of a monthly challenge! Not sure we would get many of them, especially with bike in the photo.

Very nice trees – the early flowering wattle can go with the early swooping magpies 🙂 I’m a little jealous you got some sun in all the rainy fronts over the weekend. I don’t think we really got that much rain, but there were no sunny breaks from Friday night to Sunday night. Just cold, wet and windy… I used the opportunity to sleep and sleep and sleep 🙂

Hi Emily. I have noticed quite a few magpies around recently – but they are not swooping yet.

In northern Tassie we often get showery weather rather than grey all day stuff. In fact, when grey all day happens people get quickly down about it. When we lived further south we would experience easterlies for 3-4 days at a time – grey all day and very wet. It’s a State full of micro climates.
