A Dandy Earth Day

A day late for Earth Day but thanks to Rocky’s encouraging email, I’m posting. The pictures are from rides on a couple of different days. We have been having great weather, sometimes a bit too much wind but okay, not quite so many cyclists out again, thank goodness. Isn’t it great to see so many people riding their bikes? Well, yes and no, for obvious reasons.

The dandelion season is short. I wanted to expand my collection of dandy pictures and saw that the yellow spots on the meadows were already disappearing! The fields of canola are still out there to blind us though. Today I’m posting dandelions.

There was a fence between us, but they seeemed to be more interested in grazing than charging me anyway.

Again we are bowled over by the beauty of our surroundings where we now live. About this time last year we moved out here. In the first few months we didn’t get on our bikes that much since we were busy with getting settled in, so this is the first time that we have explored in spring.

P. S. How could I not add the appropriate music! Thanks, Bill!

Happy Earth Day!

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Great dandelion pics. I think all the dandelions in MY Town are in MY Yard, though they’re still a few weeks from blooming. I like dandelions and I don’t understand why most people around here consider them to be weeds and try to get rid of them.

Great photos! I really enjoy your write ups of your ride. When we can do our bike tour of Germany and Austria I hope we can meet up!

    Very nice!

For musical accompaniment, may I suggest the Rolling Stones doing Dandelion?

The band had fabulous wardrobes. I’m guessing Greg’s closet is overflowing with similar. 😉

Nice photos and lots and lots of dandelions!
I like dandelions — just not in my lawn. 🙂

My feelings exactly! 🙂 The plant crowds out the lawn grass.

Love the photos….and yes we too have people out riding bikes that have not been in probably 20-30 years?! Watch out!!

Wonderful Dandelions ;’-). And wonderful post. You seem to have chosen an perfect place to live.
As others, we too have more cyclists to avoid when riding, and more walkers that sometimes walk in the road to avoid narrow sidewalk contact with other walkers.

Agree…Suzanne and Janos have picked a perfect place for a variety of rides. However, Nancy, you find some very interesting places to ride, also. I love living farther out of the city than we did, but we certainly are not in a location that has more than a couple safe places to ride. I have a bike rack on my car, so it’s more than location that has kept me off the bike.

It’s been a year since your move? Wow, time flies. So glad you could move to a location with so many quiet, scenic rides. Winter is our dandelion season – I’ll see if I can find some. Spring heats up quick enough they disappear pretty quickly then.
