A Few Days Away….

We have been planning a fall trip for a couple of years. However with our own personal issues and visiting family we just hadn’t until now. We had hoped to tour in Utah……another however! We just didn’t want or have the energy to drive there and back plus tour. So, we decided to just drive down to our favorite motel on the beach in San Simeon and do more day rides and enjoy the sound of the surf. I guess we are officially getting old!

We had some nice rides and a lot of rest. We must have needed it. Enjoy!

First day there we rode north from the motel to the Elephant Seal Rookery. Not many there now just juvenile males and one old guy to lazy to make the trip to Alaska and back by January for the big party.
The appropriate signage.
There he is …the Docent said he was about 8-9 as they don’t start to get the nose until then. There were thousands here a few weeks ago molting. Then they go north and come back fat to birth and breed as they literally don’t eat for the 30-40days they are on the beach during mating season. We might be back mid January as it’s so amazing to see.
We passed the Hearst Castle.
There she comes…..new shirt and all. I just had a serious “spandex jockey” on another blog asked me (I had posted this same photo) if I ever considered taking those heavy bags off…I could ride better? 😂😂 I politely said are you serious…ride Naked!
Back to the motel. It’s the Best Western Cavalier. We enjoy being right on the bluff. This year they added lawn chess, checkers and tic tac toe!
Next day we rode to Cambria and Harmony…
Cambria bathrooms are fancy.
We are so glad we are NOT Nitt Witts….it was really really steep maybe 30%!
Welcome to Harmony…cows are everywhere!
Another.
This was Jack’s favorite! Notice the dripping Ice Cream cone they’re  known for that! Ice Cream that is.
See.  It it was closed.
They have a wedding chapel. Might be big business.
And a great photo opp.
Looked like this was original store fronting.
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.
This guy wanted our attention.
I think he knew I had just taken this photo while in the ladies room. He wanted equal time.
View on Hwy 46 going back to Hwy 101. Going home Morro Bay.
Today on Little Bessie in Monterey. We never have clouds like this! Welcome home to me.

Janet here of Jack and Janet in Seaside, CA. We just love to ride our bikes and share and read stories from other such afflicted souls.

Looks like San Simeon was a good idea! Hope you get back for more of the elephant seals!

Enjoyed your post and your great photos. Interesting about the older seal’s nose growth at age 8 or 9!

Beautiful photos of a beautiful area, Janet. We’ve stayed in Cambria a couple of times. My ace support crew loves it down there. I’ll show her your pix and perhaps she’ll want to go again soon (and allow the Ogre to accompany us). By the way, we first heard of Nitt Witt Ridge on the old Huell Howser show. I haven’t been there, but the crew says it’s pretty much a joke. We met a young woman from Cayucos while on a big group hike a few months ago, and she said it’s where all the kids went to smoke weed when she was in high school.
