A few last flora and fauna before we leave

We leave for Sicily the day after tomorrow, and of course invite you to join us for our three month loop through southern Italy.  Sharing a ride with us would be great, or surprising us with a cold beer at a summit somewhere along the way would be nearly as good.  Barring that, it would be great just to hear from you.  I’ll post a link here every now and then to remind you that we’re alive, but you could also register on CycleBlaze yourself and drop a comment from time to time.

in the meantime, here’s one last post before we go.  Have a great spring!

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.

Great to see that spring has sprung and you got one last stamp on the Sauvie frequent rider card. Glad you’ve had a great stay in Portland – safe travels!

Great osprey photos. I’d love to surprise you with a cold beer or hot chocolate at a summit somewhere but geography and first world poverty sucks and I’ll follow along in cyber-space. All the best

Such a disappointment! I was counting on you especially to show up with a beer for us. Maybe next spring (your autumn), when we’re planning to finally come your way again. We won’t make it to Perth, but I’m pretty sure we’ll make Adelaide and around. Perth and Adelaide look so close on the map – I’m sure you could just bop on over.

You know that might just be possible as I’m about due for a trip east to visit friends and relations and would like to do the Mawson trail in SA. It’s a possibility. I’ll get two spare stubby holders ready.

Beautiful photos Scott. That tree with the daffodils really sings to me. And those osprey, oh my! I rode Sauvie one time with a friend a couple of years ago. Though I enjoyed the island, it was somewhat of a miserable way to get to it along that highway. There was much to enjoy on Sauvie, but I think you have to be a local to find all the nuances that exist.
Bon Voage and (I know you will) enjoy Sicily and all other areas you will adventure through. Will be looking at your blog on Cycleblaze.

You’re right about the highway, alright. We’ve ridden it enough that we don’t give it much thought, but it does carry the trucks. A lot of folks drive out to the island and start there.

I was happy with the osprey too, of course. That nest is so well placed – the road from the south drops down a bit, so with a good zoom you can get an almost eye level view. We’ve been watching this couple raise a family each spring for several years now – at least I think it’s the same pair returning home for the summer.
