Antelope Island

I’m driving solo across the continent, with the Ogre in the back of the Forester. Some days I hop on the Ogre to ride a few miles out-and-back or in a loop. That slows my forward progress, but enables me to explore some interesting places along the way.

Second stop, Antelope Island, Utah.

They call me Old Grumble-Face. I have no idea why they do that....

Nice pics and a nice day for a ride! Have you ever read Refuge by Terry Tempest Williams? The wildlife sanctuaries dotted around the Great Salt Lake feature in that book – you might enjoy it. Safe travels east 🙂

Refuge is one of my favorite books!! Read it at twice. We also saw her in SF with Jim Harrison one of Jacks favorite writers! A real win win…..only would have been better if Wallace Stagner would have been there too. Have you read Angle of Repose or Crossing to Safety or any of his others?

Janet, you made me smile. Wallace Stegner is one of my favourite authors. If pressed, I would probably say Angle of Repose is my all-time favourite fiction book of any author. My copy is dog-eared, beat-up and has many passages highlighted. He, Edward Abbey, and Ray Bradbury are my top three 🙂

What a great ride, and in an area I have never been. It looked like you were fortunate to have the bison not attack you as they attacked the woman in the car. Hopefully you were never threatened as Ogre could not have been of much help.
Nice photos that show a lot of this area.

Beautiful area…..nice Buffalo dodging!! Some people….did you read about the guy in Yellowstone that was arrested recently for getting to close and taunting the Buffalo?

Nice Lady! Produce a bellicose bison and leave you in what could have been a very precarious position — sheese!
Other than that, a beautiful place, great ride, and photos.
I didnt realize the Great Salt Lake is shrinking like the Salton Sea.

Thank you Bill. I had to Google Bison / Buffalo to find out that Buffalo never roamed on the plains – they live in Asia and Africa. Well, there you go – another day another factoid learnt. Now I am wondering what I saw in the Northern Territory a few years back. we thought they were buffalo but they had the hump so really they were Bison.

    Bloody silly woman!!
