Arboreal Dream of Oz

Did I really have the Ogre with me when I wandered half-naked around Australia in 1984? Or was it all a dream? Or a vision of a future time out of time yet to come?

And why isn’t my hair still thick and red?

All these questions remain unanswered as the Challenge of the Month for June rapidly draws to a close….

They call me Old Grumble-Face. I have no idea why they do that....

The best tree picture yet. It goes way back to the days when you were YOUNG Grumbleface.

For a second there, I thought that was Michael Fomenko — till I saw the Ogre. ๐Ÿ˜‰
    Excellent photo!

Ha Ha Fake news? Something about that bike in photo doesn’t look quite right

Fake news? Can a dream be fake news? ๐Ÿ˜‰

As to Michael Fomenko, I had to google him. If Hollywood decides to make a film of his life (have they already done that?), I’m available, but I’m afraid these days I’m only suitable for the old, feeble, decrepit bits.

PS: That really is Young Grumble-Face up a tree in Para Wirra park north of Adelaide, but I think Surly was not building Ogres back in 1984. Twas but a dream….

And what a great dream it is and you’ve still got plenty of luscious hair too. In retrospect “fake news’ with it’s politically dishonest connotations wasn’t really fitting ,it was a good fun photo.

    Hi Bill,

A friend of mine who was a student of philosophy posed the question while we were still youngsters in college: do hats cause baldness, or does baldness cause hats? Now we know.

Nice pic, Bill. Obviously the ‘slip, slop, slap’ campaign had not reached mass awareness yet, even though it started in 1980. There’s one of the original ads below in the link. Kids don’t get to play outside at school anymore if they don’t bring their hat – “No hat, no play” policy!

You had me fooled. I just thought you had a henna job done on your hair.
Great photo to close the month!
