Bicycles and Pool Noodles

In the times of Corona bicycles are becoming more popular as a means of transportation and there are calls for better bicycle infrastructure. For example, the mayor of Paris has announced plans to make the streets of Paris 100 per cent cycle friendly by 2024. Rome is following Paris’s example, promising 150 km of streets safe for cyclists. Even in Germany!!!! I am only slightly surprised as the once mighty bicycle has lost favor for all the automobiles. I think the idea is great, but as you witnessed, more organization perhaps involving the police, could possibly have helped.

Another take on Social Distancing — and not a bad one at all.

I like the sign on the seat bag that demonstrates the 1.5 meter clearance — an excellent idea that gives motorists and immediate reminder.

The pool noodles are a great idea, looks like you have the same problem as here ‘entitled motorists’ who believe in their self importance. Looks like Gautung has very active cycling community for a small town.

If I knew those things would guarantee safety, I’d be all over it. But my fear is that the pool noodles will only antagonize drivers. KInd of like poking a stick at an alligator.
