Bricks: one of 50 things

I was listening to a 99% Invisible podcast where good old Roman Mars featured three episodes of a BBC podcast called 50 Things That Made the Modern Economy. (It’s a thing he does – promote other podcasts he thinks subscribers would be interested in – amongst his own productions.)

One of the 50 things is the humble brick. Take 5 minutes:

And wouldn’t you know, there’s yet another important thing that made the modern economy:

The Bicycle

Very interesting. I will have to check out the bike one later. I like that bricks are so uniform the world over and how size and shape are a combo of what can fit in the human hand and what is easy to build with 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
