Challenge of the Month: A Dilemma

We’re having beautiful weather, cloudless skies, temps around 20°C, a most gentle breeze. The dilemma is to get out at a time and to a place that isn’t too full of others who also want to enjoy these wonderful days. Sometimes I have the impression that all those people who own  bikes but never ride have gotten them out of the cellar, pumped up the tires and are out on the paths. Along with the joggers. And walkers. And the guys in lycra who have extra energy to burn. And the old fogeys on their e-bikes. That’s us.

Sunday was bad. Everyone was out. Monday we got out too late in the afternoon and it was again too crowded for my taste. Maybe crowded isn’t the right word, but we are so used to being alone on these paths through the woods that even a few people are too many. Of course, they should be out there exercising – and we should be thinking about better choices of time and place. We did that today and it was lovely.

Here are a few pictures from the past few days, without people. And a video by Janos which perhaps makes this post eligible for the music challenge, as well.

Janos finds wearing the Osmo on a harness makes a smoother video that when it is on the handlebars.

My gadgets

Easter egg trees – a German tradition

A popular beer garden, now deserted

Definitely spring

More felled trees from the storms last month

Local Farming

Today’s ride – perfect

And now for Janos’s video – the music credits are at the end.

That video was gobs of fun! Janos did an excellent job of music choice and splicing the video clips together. Felt like I was along on the ride with the two of you enjoying that beautiful day. And as always, your photos are sublime. Fun post you two!! Cheers & happy pedaling.

Hi TJ! Janos really appreciates that you noticed how he splices the clips. He tries to make them fit to the rhythm and length of the music! And many thanks again for your praise of my photos!

Great video! Really enjoyed riding along.
When most people are out walking or riding, Im not, so its been working pretty well here.

It seems here that all people are always out riding and walking! Bike paths aren’t so good, roads are the best.

Great video! I love having one I can whistle along to. I recognized the song and artists by the second bar, though the name of the tune was unfamiliar. Oh, and pretty good photos too.

Very pleasant. Might do one of them myself, just need one of those strap on cameras

What an delight to ride along with you and Janos via video. Great job!

People are out in swarms on the trail around here also, as I hear from others. I don’t ride the trails so have been fine riding on the roads. Missing my people though.

Thanks for the post and great video.
