Challenge of the month: August, 2019

Oh, good grief!  Where did July go, anyway?  I’ve lost track, and almost missed getting this month’s challenge out in time.  I’m sure you’ve all been getting anxious, wondering whether you would have a reason to wheel the bike out of the shed next month.

‘Where’s our challenge?’, I imagine many of you have been shouting at your electronic device in frustration, grumbling and gnashing your teeth.

Well, gnash no more.  The theme this month is Virtual Arboretum.  Let’s build a gallery of distinguished trees, and where possible let us know what the species is; or show us enough identifying characteristics so we can help you make the identification.  Extra credit if you feature a species native to your area.

And, for this month only you don’t need to have your bicycle in the same frame with the tree.  You do though need to include a bike somewhere in the post, but it’s fine to have a clean, unobstructed view of your prized tree.

And, to make things even easier, you don’t even need to post a living tree.  If you’re living in a dead zone, or find a fallen soldier you particularly admire, that’s fine too.  You’ll note that the featured image is one of these.  It’s lying on the beach in Birch Bay, slowly but colorfully rotting away.

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.
