Challenge of the month, January 2020: Rocks

Last month’s challenge subject, Reds, was possibly the most productive one yet, generating 35 submissions; while the November one, Kids, was probably the least popular, resulting in only ten.  I’m sure there’s a message in there somewhere, but I’m not quite sure what it is.  Maybe lifeless subjects are easier to work with than squirrelly, animate ones?  Maybe if I didn’t have rocks for brains, I could figure it out.

Rocks!  That’s it!   Let’s rock in the new decade with a photo of your favorite rock.  Extra credit if it’s got a bike cozying up to it casting a shadow across its face.  Big, small, smooth, ragged, you choose.  Show us what rocks you.

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.

A bigger challenge than the Reds. Rock hard maybe. But onward we go for this one.

No exposures of bedrock around here, but there is a plethora of glacial erratic boulders — or as one student wrote in an essay ‘erotic’ boulders. 😉

    Great choice for a challenge!

I’m not sure about this one. It’s a family-friendly website, so please submit any erotic rock photos for pre-approval before publication. Thanks for understanding.

Rules clarification: “…photo of your favorite rock”.
    1. Does this mean the challenge is to post only one photo?
    2. Is it to be a single, separate rock, or a collection such as are in some yards and fences/barricades?
    I ask because:
    1. I don’t have a favorite rock.
    2. As you have probably gleaned, I don’t post one of anything unless that is all I can find, or if it is part of the rules of the challenge.

Thanks for all the challenges you present for us ;’-)

      1. No, submit as many photos as you wish. The more the better. You could, for example, submit many photos of the same favorite rock from different angles. Or, if you’re fickle, you could change your mind on what your favorite is, and post multiples in this way.
      2. I confess I don’t have a favorite rock either. I didn’t really mean for that to be a condition of the challenge. Actually, my original thought was to include a second photo in the challenge, of a pebble beach, to show that ‘rock’ was meant to be interpreted liberally. It’s Rachael’s fault – she was in a hurry to leave for our ride, and rushed me.

Bonus points if one can track down and take a photo of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with your bike! 😉

Or even Kid Rock, I’ll allow that…
