Challenge of the Month: LHTs Old and New

Two Surly Long Haul Truckers: The carcass of my old LHT, which I was riding when I was hit by a car in May 2014, and my new LHT, which replaced the one bent, mangled, and destroyed. I’ve salvaged a few useful parts off the old LHT over the years.

They call me Old Grumble-Face. I have no idea why they do that....

Awww that is sad to see — the great news is you survived! And, your comments regarding helmets following that event IS the major reason why I always wear a helmet now.
Fact is, I took a spill today — what appeared to be a wet spot turned out to be a mass of algal slime and slicker than slick — front wheel went left, I went right on to knee, shoulder, and elbow — helmet was not involved — but it sure could have been.

Good to see you kept the old LHT — I would have too — lots of good times and miles on that machine.

Yikes! I hope all your bodily parts survived without damage. For Christmas I plan to send you knee pads, shoulder pads, and elbow pads to go along with your helmet. 😉

Might not be a bad idea! Thanks!

That is the first time Ive crashed since I was a kid — as we all know, it happens so fast!
(Squirrel/Beagle incident was my last crash back in the 50’s — squirrel shot in front of me, missed it, did not miss the beagle chasing it) Beagle survived and so did I) 🙂
