Challenge of the Month: Shades of Grey

Yesterday was again Tuesday and again a Tuesday afternoon ride with the local bicycle club. Let me tell you, this is a very cool group. I told them I needed a monochrome picture and that I would probably take it when we crossed the Isar on the bridge at Grosshesselohe. They all agreed to wear grey shirts and shorts, or as close as they could get! Wow!

Now I hope no one believed that whopper. They are a very nice group but they didn’t come in shades of grey.

Every other Tuesday is a so-called ‘cappucino ride’, the alternate weeks have a theme. Nevertheless, on all Tuesdays we stop for something to drink and we also stop along the way when Sebastian, our group organizer, has some information on our surroundings. In the summer months beer gardens are on the agenda. This week we cycled over to the beer garden at Grosshesselohe on the banks of the Isar and where there is often a dixie band playing. The tour was about 35km.

A colorful group and ready to go – That’s Sebastian in the yellow shirt.
Sebastian had something to tell us – which I didn’t hear because I wanted to get the picture from this angle instead.
On our way home – I find it interesting that many avid cyclists in Germany don’t bother with jersey and padded shorts. They just ride.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

What a team! So great they all cooperated. You should encourage one of them to join us – we still have some room below our cap on Bavarian members.

Sounds like a great ride with a great group of cyclists.
Beautiful scenery, the bridge photo is an excellent perspective, and the red pannier really makes it pop.

Yes, the red pannier really is good for my pictures. I desaturated everything else in this shot (monochrome you know), but not the red pannier.

Such compliant cycling friends you have! Great photos of course, but I love that grey with your red pannier as a star. ;’-)
Quite a find to have these great folks to ride with.

Sounds like a great group to ride with and lots of fun with themes and cafe and beer garden stops. I am partial to the name Sebastian, too. That is the name of my favourite teddy bear companion I’ve had since I was 9 🙂 He mostly hangs out at Nigel’s place – as he is the best sleep aide that Nigel has tried – better than prescribed drugs, alcohol, relaxation tapes, etc!
