Chasing the Eddington Number

I don’t set out on rides to beat my current Eddington Number.  But I do know exactly what it is.

Today was no exception.  Out early in the morning for a ride.

To the furthest commuter train station from the city centre.

Then feet up on the ninety-minute train ride home.

And a ride from the station back to our cars.  Mark and I had ridden further than we had anticipated.  A quick mental calculation.  I was 3km short of my Eddington Number.

It was 11.30am.  Getting too hot to do anything about it right away.

But I was on my bike this evening.  Now I have only 5 more days of riding at least 1 kilometre further than my current Eddington Number to bump it up one notch.

You know how there are things you wish you had never heard of?

The Eddington number looks like a fun challenge. I don’t have the capacity for it right now, but looks like something to play around with in the future. My ‘ride new roads’ goal is a bit like your number… sometimes I wish I’d never come up with the idea!
