CLC #7 Uptown Bessie goes Way Uptown!

It was sunny and NOT windy early this morning so we decided to get out early. Beat the tourist crowds and the wind….a win/win as they say.

First stop was in Pacific Grove at one of Jack’s favorite Little Library’s.
On up the hill in Pebble Beach they were still taking Down the tent for the Pebble Beach Food and Wine which was last weekend. Notice the tops of the porta potties.
This was on the Peter Hay Golf Course at PB…..they are beginning to build the structures for the US Open Golf Tournament which is in June. We’ll be back to post more in a few weeks.
We took a lunch break at the new picnic area at PB. Uptown’s first visit to PB. She did great!!
This is not a porta pottie….our Field Office in Pebble Beach.
Blow this up and read the sign😂😂 it was for the CCC workers building a new trail on the beach. They don’t share I guess.
So, Thursday I get a text from Jack, he’s at Peet’s in Monterey, with this photo and asks if I know this guy? Sure I said ‘Rod Stewart’. Jack needed more of a clue …Hamilton, Montana 2014?!  Rod was part of a two man team doing the TransAm (also on CGOAB known as Rod Stewart). I followed them as they traveled East to West and when we got close we finally met. Meet Rod and Candace Keeney. He had searched and searched for our journal (we know where that went)  so he could connect with us while visiting here this week and just like that their first day here they find Jack having coffee! We met for dinner Friday and visited with their son who is studying Rusian at the DLI. Don’t you just love touring happenings!
Well we ran into them again today!! They are going to rent Ebikes. Rod and son Clint also did the Divide in 2017 check it out…..on that other site.
Best sign of the day…
New mural at the Dali.
Jack was here…told you he takes Surly with him.
Almost home but I had to ride in the street……it’s been windy and the sand has taken over the trail.
Previously paid for lunch…makes the 7th CLC ride. Almost forgot. 29 miles on Little Bessie!

Janet here of Jack and Janet in Seaside, CA. We just love to ride our bikes and share and read stories from other such afflicted souls.

Ooooh weee, those were a bunch of great pictures–and I’m not just talking about the porta-potties and field offices.
Also, running into Rod Stewart was a pretty amazing story . . . definitely more amazing than just running into a certain British singer by that name.

I actually ran into Rod Stewart at the New Orleans Jazz Fest……he was not friendly.. might have been that I was so excited to see him I ran right up and touched him😂 as it turned out it was just a very mean look alike….yep this Rod Stewart was better.

Added to what I’ve read and my personal interactions with him, this confirms my hunch that Jack does little more than hang around the touristy part of town in an effort to intercept passing bicyclists. 😉

A noble cause helping out lost cycle travellers from around the world, good on you Jack.

Likuid Kreations — I thought that was some sort of exquisite drink vendor — wrong!!
PB is waaaaaaaay outta my league, but sure is beautiful.
Very cool to meet your cyclist friends again, at first glance I thought that might be KC on bike.
The Field Office appears to have those motion sensing faucets — first time I experienced those I stood there like the buffoon that I am wondering how the hell to turn it on. LOL
Great Best Sign of the Day too!

The picnic area looks very nice! What a gorgeous day. I also love how the touring meet-ups happen and how touring cyclists are really just one big family in a way.

What a lovely day. And where is that picnic area? A great place to stop.

It’s next to the Pebble Bech Deli …it was formally a Wells Fargo Bank. Across the street from the PB Lodge.
