CLC Spring 2020/2: Beautiful Bavaria

These are the spring days we have been waiting for. The sun is shining, the wind is moderate and the temps are up to around 15°C. The coming days will be the same. I had the routes planned and ready to upload onto my Garmin for the first overnight tour of the year. It was to be Kloster Scheyern again, our opening tour of the season the past two years. But we are not staying in hotels and going to restaurants these days so today’s ride was a tour through the Bavarian countryside beginning and ending in Gauting.

What a beautiful day!
Our first stop is in Starnberg – the Alps are barely visible on the horizon.
Fluffy clouds, horses out grazing and a touch of green on the fields
Village and church steeple visible in the distance
Here in Unering we found the perfect spot for our picnic: a bench in the sun, a maypole and the village church in the background
Instead of a stop in a beer garden, we brought a picnic lunch. I took a bite of my sandwich and then remembered to take the picture. Look at that healthy German whole grain bread! And oranges and apples for dessert, too! Where’s the chocolate? Still in my bag.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Oh those clouds in the blue sky! Another lovely area for your bike ride. And delightful lunch. Wish I could join you.

I forgot to stay on your last post how happy I am that you now have your bike again!
    😉

Yum! That picnic lunch and German bread looked absolutely delicious. By the photos, you had no problem keeping the mandated distance from anyone. Looks like you had the paths virtually to yourselves, minus a few horses in the distance and some waterfowl. A gorgeous ride on a gorgeous day!! Thanks for posting that beauty! We all need to see such sights to keep some semblance of sanity. Cheers & happy pedaling.

I just ate. I’m full. Yet, for some reason I want a couple of those sandwiches right now. That’s how scrumptious they look.

Very nice ride and beautiful blue skies — more than ready for some of that here.

If I understand correctly, Bavaria is now under lockdown. Welcome to the club! Hope all is well with you and Janos. Stay safe.

Yes, lockdown here too. We’re fine. It’s strange how little has changed in our personal lives while we know that nothing is the same really.

    Dearest,
Beautiful Bavarian blue. We’d know that wherever it showed up. I’m ready for the chocolate now.
