Closed: Tour de Lockdown

Yesterday Sonoma County ordered all parks to close due to an excess of congregating by self-isolated, locked down, sheltered in place, stay at home folks. When closing parks, that meant every state park, county park, regional park, city park, etc, plus every open space, schoolyard, playground, and multi-use path in the county.

Wait. What? Paths? Bike paths!?!

I had to undertake Tour de Lockdown in order to investigate, and I was forced to detour into some unfamiliar streets. The bright side? I saw a few unfamiliar sights.

Glad you got the ride in! Closed parks and bike paths was bound to happen sooner or later I guess. That’s hard on people who know how to keep the proper distance and don’t need the disciplining measures.

But rain is good news, no?

I don’t understand why they would close bike paths and without closing streets too.

We used to have a local radio talk show host who opened her show with “Always Look at the Bright Side of Life.” I think it became one of The Feeshko’s favorite songs. It’s definitely a great song for all optimists and positive thinkers like me.

All our parks are closed as well, and I expect trails are to follow as I witness people walking and riding much closer together as is protocol for these times.
Rain at last for you! Must feel good.

Hey! I thought you were the indigenous person of Sonoma County. Glad the mural set me straight. Interesting how having to get off your usual routes forces you to see new things and find new things to photograph. Good ride in spite of the closures. Stay healthy out there!!

In Britain this song became the most popular funeral music a while back. Pushing Frank and “I did it my way” off the number one position.

Parks closed here too now — playground apparatus wrapped in yellow tape even.
Check in at the hospital is now in a trailer in the parking lot.

I did see where Gov Newsom is considering an additional 12 weeks of Shelter in Place — with all the postponements of events, it suggests this thing may go on for a long long time. 🙁

I like the Pomo mural and the poppies with colour and greyscale. You really rode right up until the end with the closures!
