Cycle Days Challenge: July 2020

I don’t always take my birthdays that seriously, but becoming an octogenarian did feel a bit – what’s the right word – portentous? meaningful? auspicious? awesome? formidable? something else? none of these? all of these? Whatever, here I am, riding my bike and feeling pretty good most of the time.

Here’s the post with pictures on my website.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Hi Gary. Nice to hear from you. I know HK has been going through covid, typhoon, and other disruptive issues. I hope you and your family are well and you’ve been able to do some pedaling. Stay safe and out of harm’s way.

Looks like July was a pretty good month despite you and bike being under the weather for a few days. Red accessories on the bike always look terrific in your photos.

No doubt the sunflower picture and the dark clouds with lone tree picture are great, but the award for “Greg’s Favorite Suzanne Picture From July” goes to . . . the emaciated cow sniffing the colored ball. It’s sad and fanciful at the same time.

Colored ball? I think that is her tongue wrapped around a few blades of grass.

Oh my, you’re right, it IS a tongue. It just didn’t make any sense why a cow would be sniffing a ball, but that’s what my eyes were seeing. I’m glad you corrected me. And even though it’s a tongue and not a ball, that picture is still my favorite of the month.

My goodness, but you live in a beautiful part of the world. Octabulous!

All great photos — especially the tree stump and parking lot flower garden, the latter almost looks like a painting.
Good to see the corn is doing well.

Wonderful photos as always, and congrats on the birthday! 600+ km for the month is still great, and almost 3500 kilometers for the year, only a little more than half way through the year, is fantastic.

Another stunning collection and great month on the bike. Perhaps you’ll make up for lost kms later. Maybe not? Who cares – as long as the riding brings you joy. I love the pic of the golden grains on the right, the storm clouds and the tree seemingly at the end of the path. I hope August is a wonderful month of rides, too.
