Cycle Days Challenge: October

It’s been wonderful to experience the gradual change of seasons in our new surroundings, from spring to summer, summer to autumn, and now autumn full-fledged with pumpkins for sale on the roadside, mushrooms to be found in the forest, bright foliage and the occasional fog. I again was able to get out every day on my bike – until I came down with bronchitis, which put an abrupt end to my bicycle rides and pictures for the month. However, I did manage to get in 27 rides, and while I write this I am again well and riding.

By the way and totally unrelated to my rides, I wonder why I don’t get notifications of responses to comments. Does everyone else get notifications? I have to re-read all the posts to see if there is any response to any of my comments. Or is that the way it’s supposed to be? Or something I can change?

And now to my rides in October. HERE is the link to my website entry with the pictures.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

I haven’t been getting notifications of comments either, even though I started checking the “Notify me of follow-up comments by email” box every time lately. I just figured I was black-balled for being too obnoxious–a charge I can completely understand. But YOU? No way. You’re one of the nicest and most respected Cycle365 contributors.

Another thing I wanted to say is good job on getting out on your bike every healthy day, and the most important thing I wanted to say is that your pictures really capture the essence of autumn awesomeness. Thumbs up to the pics of dark forests and mushrooms/toadstools.

Glad you liked my pictures, Greg!

Aha, so you don’t get notifications either. I guess nobody does then. Wonder if the administrators can change that. Hallooo, administrators…..can you help us?

Beautiful set of photos! I especially like the power transmission tower, and the golden leaves on the bicycle paths.
Glad to hear you are feeling better!

Thanks, Rich! Yes, the towering transmission tower really puts things into proportion, doesnt it.

To paraphrase John Barth, I’m a semi-demi-administrator. I can do a few things, like clean up the multitude of spam user registrations with which we are constantly bombarded (although “ordinary” users never see them).

    As a semi-demi-administrator, I don’t think there’s much I can do to adjust notifications.

Also, maybe because I’m a semi-demi-administrator, my receipt of notifications about comments posted to my deathless prose seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes I get ’em. Sometimes not.

Wish I could help, but I think She Who Brings Order From Chaos might need to step in.

    PS: Keep riding, Wild Woman!

Thanks for your response, Semi-demi! Also nice to hear about and to be able to appreciate all that work you are doing for us behind the scenes. Thanks again. And if the full-time admins can’t get it fixed, I can live with that too.

Unfortunately, the full time admins are strictly part time, and none too competent, We’ve taken a whack at this in the past without success, but I don’t think we’ll take another one now. We’ll make a note to come back and look again when we’re back in Portland, which should be in – uh – February,

I love all of your photos all of the time Suzanne! I have to say that something about the fog photo and the water wheel seem to catch my eye in this collection.

You amaze me that you get out to ride on so many days and I am so happy to hear that you are up and biking now as a healthy Suzanne ;’-). With change so hard for me to adjust to, I have been out there biking through the fall colors trying to embrace the changes. It has helped for this season ;’-).

I don’t know why, but I do get the notices about responses to my posts. Feel kind of special now.

BTW Suzanne, I left you a note on your Cycle Days Challenge that I will try to join you for this next year, and post a photo of each day I ride. Goal being 100 days.

Thanks, Nancy! I saw the note and answered there.
Btw, I do get notifications to my posts, but not to follow-up comments.

OK then, guess I am not so special after all. I don’t get follow up notices either.
