Cycle Life Challenge Ride 1: Everyday Life in Munich

Well, I screwed up my courage and made a video for you – but mainly for the Goddess, bestower of Eternal Glory, because she likes videos and has been asking to see and hear us live for years.

Not much to add to that. I rode to the gym, got rid of glass and plastic at the recycling bins and didn’t forget to support the daily economy. It was truly not much of a ride. After my dental implant extraction last week I hadn’t been feeling up to much, but the short jaunt on my bike lifted my spirits and I’m ready for more.
It really did snow in the morning – view from our kitchen window

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. I have three kids and eight grandchildren - so I'm pretty old. Cycling, photography and walking are my favorite things.

Two Thumbs-Up for your introductory video. And I definitely understand your concern about what the neighbors might think about you talking to your phone. I worry about things like that too. The only person who doesn’t seem to have any shame at all about his ridiculous antics is that “gregblood” guy.

Thanks, G-2! I could really use a little of that Gregblood mentality and forget what people think.

Glad you liked the photo, Bill! I have found some pretty clever apps for post processing.

What a fine video Suzanne. And braving some snow to ride for ‘the cause”! Good for you.

Good for you, Suzanne! You’re an inspiration. Maybe one of these times I’ll get up the nerve to do that.

An implant extraction! Do you mean the natural tooth was extracted to make way for an implant, or are you having an implant replaced? Either way, you have my sympathy. I’ve been through two of these now and know them to be no fun.

Unfortunately, it was the extraction of an old implant that had become infected (peri-implantitis) and had to go. It had bonded with the bone as they are supposed to do, but not nice if they have to be removed. But I survived and it’s healing nicely.
Looking forward to your intro-video. It doesn’t have to be on the first ride, you know.

I’m sorry. Teeth have really been my Achilles heel, and I’m always afraid of bad news coming my way when I go to the dentist. Thanks for sparing us a video of the extraction process though!

Great video, Suzanne! I’ve always enjoyed doing my errands by bike, too. I was able to figure out ‘fresh milk’ but would NEVER have guessed that “fettarme” means ‘low-fat’!

Fettarm – to the English speaker it probably sounds like you’ll get fat arms. Muscle or flab is the question.

    Great video introduction!
The dental activity sounds like no fun at all! Glad things are getting better.

Your Goddess is immensely pleased with your video. We found Ourselves nodding “yes” when you asked if you got the snow in the frame.

We are glad you are healing well. Implants no bueno, and removal mucho no bueno.

A trip to the dentist and cycling your bike, can’t get more polar opposite on the happiness spectrum than those activities. You looked very relaxed on the video.
