Death Valley: Ride 5, Aguereberry Point

With four rides of varying length and success under my belt, I was ready for another. In fact, today’s ride was really the one I was most looking forward to. In all my visits to Death Valley, for some reason I had never made it up to Aguereberry Point in the Panamint Range above Badwater basin. It should be 20 or 30 degrees cooler up there, and the road remains unpaved all the way from Emigrant Canyon Road to the point. The distance would be almost as great as the cruise up to the charcoal kilns, but the elevation gained would be roughly half. I expected the road to be rough enough to discourage most casual tourists, but perfect for the Ogre. To top it off, the same road offered access to a couple of interesting historical sites.

They call me Old Grumble-Face. I have no idea why they do that....

Loved the rocks, the tight canyon and those views! I think the raven came to watch you dance 😉 Looks like it was a great trip – despite the heat down low.

Hi Em. It was an enjoyable trip, but the raven would have been sorely disappointed by my dancing. The only thing worse than my dancing is my singing. The only thing worse than my singing is my dancing.
