December challenge: walls

It has, by our standards here in the Pacific Northwest, gotten rather cold and frosty here. I know that 35-40 degrees is not what some areas consider frigid weather, but it is that here. In these past few days we have had temps in the upper 20s at night, low 30s in the morning, and barely getting above 40 for the day.

I did get out to do some errands by bike yesterday early afternoon, and have just a couple of entries for our WALLS challenge.

I do bike year round, and have cold weather gear that keeps me warm and dry enough to enjoy riding, but heavy frost or ice on the roads will keep me off my bike. By mid afternoon any frosty days will usually find the roads dry and bikeable. At least I am counting on that and will be searching for more walls on more rides this month.

Here is a wall that I often bike by, but have not done been there this month. However it is one of my favorite walls so will share it but not count it for the challenge ;’-)

Kudos for riding in all kinds of weather! Admirable! And also so wise to avoid ice and snow!
Nice picture of your bike and its shadow in front of the white corrugated whatever-it-is.

Thanks Suzanne. Prudent decision by three of us today had us cancel our ride as it is so heavily frosted and cold! Well, cold would not necessarily stop us, but that frost looks mighty intimidating and unsafe for riding.
That is a wall of a building — metal building I assume.

The colors on the “Dauntless Heart” are almost the same colors that are on your bike seat. Cool!

How observent you are Greg — I hadn’t noticed that.

Weather here has turned windy, cold, and slippery at times too.
Glad you could get out for some rides and find some walls as well.
We have walls, few are very photogenic.

I think our walls are kind of like your walls Rich, but at least there is no rule that says they much be beautiful, ornate, colorful or any other thing that is more photogenic. So let’s just find walls of any kind. Keep us all connected at least. ;’-)

Hi Nancy, great selection of walls.
I’ve noticed that since undertaking a few of the monthly challenges I look at our local environment in a slightly differing way now.
I try to avoid going out too far on the bike if there is thick fog about as well as ice and snow.

Thanks. I too have more open eyes to things around me as I ride. It is so good to be appreciative of everything in my path! Our frost at this time is precariously a bit like ice! So if I do get out it isn’t until near or at noon, which then makes a shorter ride in these shorter daylight hours. But it is all good ;’-)
