December: Leaving ice and snow behind

First of all, many many thanks to all of you for the lovely wishes for a good trip! I had been a bit secretive about our travels, being beset by a bit of “flight shame” and also feeling reluctant to take a long trip without our bicycles. And I am always nervous before the beginning of a trip. So I prepared a December bicycle days gallery which kept me comfortable in the here and now and kept my mind off uprooting myself and traveling to distant places, if even for a short time.

HERE IS THE FINAL INSTALMENT OF MY BICYCLE DAYS CHALENGE. I finished the year with 205 bicycle-picture days. I loved the challenge of getting out as often as possible with my camera – whether I felt like it or not. I often doubted when I left the house that I was going to find anything to take a picture of on the trails I had ridden so often. I seldom had a concept beforehand. And it was amazing to see how the same scenes were transformed by the time of day, season and weather, and I always did find something that inspired me to get out my camera.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

I know the feelings and thoughts about travel! I try to not think about it too much beforehand, and end up fine with it, but have much the same trepidations as you ;’-0. You will have a grand time. The saddest part is you not having your bikes along!!

You are amazing with photography and how well you capture your rides and the different emotions and looks of similar places at different times. Thanks for adding your talent here for us all to enjoy.

    What Nancy said . . . . . .

Here is a thought (frightening I know 😉 ) — why not continue over on the forums with photos and commentary of your trip?

Just let us know you are there.

Agreed. As I noted elsewhere I discussed this with the judges, and Suzanne has been granted a one-time exception to post here without her bicycle.
