February Challenge – results of weather

Well don’t expect any snow forts, icicles or snow drifts here…coz it’s hot, hot, hot and the middle of summer. It hasn’t even snowed here in winter since the last ice age. We’re too close to the equator, too close to sea level and the southern hemisphere doesn’t have the large land masses. I went for a ride up the coast and took a few photos of Quinns Beach along the way to my mothers house. If I manage to get a photo of me riding through a bushfire I’ll put it up. So far the state of Western Australia has avoided any large house destroying and people killing infernos but summer isn’t over yet and everything is dry.

Not much surf here and the shark nets are in place. The Life Savers are changing shifts and keeping an eye out for any swimmers in difficulty.

The new groyne made from limestone blocks to stop erosion. Eventually it will go grey and fall apart, like everything I suppose, including me.

I live in the hills just east of the city of Perth, Western Australia and I've loved cycling all my life, From riding to primary school when I was 8 years old to cycle touring as a grumpy old man. Cycling is freedom on two wheels and I love getting on my bike at any opportunity.

We don’t need a photo of you riding through brush fires or crumbling like limestone, thanks for piquing the imagination though. And thanks for teaching me a new word! I’ve never heard of a groyne before, though of course we see them all the time.

Not to be confused with the other groin.

Not yet ready to risk my life for a brilliant cycle365 photo.

Nice ride — beautiful blue ocean!

Gorgeous looking day at the beach. Do they have flags to swim between or do you just swim within the confines of the shark netting?

Still got flags to swim between then a larger area surrounded by shark net. Safe beach, not many waves as lots of reef further out.

Sorry guys, you’ll just have to wait for your turn at summer for some warmth.
