February Challenge

SnowJoe and Raleigh

January wasn’t about to leave without one more shot at us

SnowJoe appears to be laughing after a job well done — Take THAT January!

Very much enjoy all the entries you all have provided -- great to see the everyday cycling venues. Being in eastern Illinois, scenery certainly isn't our forte, but oh well, the roads are normally quiet. Look forward to more and more entries from all of you, I do have a few over on BL -- in Bill's Day Rides, and one journal.

On the other hand, for Monday your forecast high is almost 10 degrees (F) warmer than the forecast high in Santa Rosa. Assuming, of course, by then we don’t get blown away by the wind or washed away by all the rain. There is one advantage to rain as opposed to snow: No need to shovel it (or buy snow dispersal robots).

Almost all of my neighbors have snow blowers–even the young people. I think of those machines as the automobiles of the snow-removal world. I have a shovel. I think of a shovel as the bicycle of the snow-removal world. After a snowstorm we all head out and wave to each other as we utilize our chosen methods of ridding our driveways of the white plague. They laugh at me while I laugh at them. I hope to continue that ritual for at least as long as I can still ride a bike.

It’s our exercise avoidance times. Same with leaf blowers, a rake does a better job and don’t get me started on dishwashers.

Fortunately we are not in any snow belt area, but may be getting something on Monday! Oh my. Gearing up for a weekend ride to and in Seattle. There is a “Tunnel Ride” for the opening of the tunnel for cars driving into Seattle. It is a big deal here and the cars start driving through on Monday. It is closed to cars tomorrow so 12,000 riders have signed up to ride. Today there were about 8,000 walkers waking/jogging through.

Nice that your weather is cooperating for the monthly challenge! But are you really riding?

Just checked, rode on Jan 11 and the 18th — and did a loop south of town this morning, (roads are mostly clear) so, not much riding so far this month. 🙁
The icy road photo in the other post is a very short distance away and just off a totally clear Snow Route.
What I don’t need to do is crash now and then not be able to ride when the decent weather does return.
