Great photo — reminiscent of the Sun Singer at Allerton Park.

Having seen that statue in person many years ago, for this photo I nevertheless decided it would be in everyone’s best interests if, unlike the big guy at Allerton Park, I kept on all my clothes.

Your picture is a very effective tease, Gandalf. Bring on the beauty of one of my two or three favorite places on this earth and Middle Earth combined.

(Did you see that J.R.R. Tolkien’s son, who finished one of his dad’s books for publication, just died this week.?)

Calling all hobbits, elves, and dwarves (not to mention Ogres, Trolls, and Salsas)! Great “high clearance four-wheel-drive” roads await in Middle Earth, I mean Death Valley. I’ll soon post more info on the roads (if you can call them that) I explored on this visit.

(Didn’t hear about Christopher Tolkien. I still have a copy of The Silmarillion around here somewhere. Thanks for letting me know.)

I have not been to Allerton Park to see that statue, but it seems you could either keep your clothes on or not as from that angle of your photo, who would know? Except for those viewing you taking the photo.
    Nice rocks Gandalf.

Me fully mimicking a clothing-optional Illinois statue would probably lead to a photo rating all the way beyond G, PG, R, and X to extreme H…for Hilarious, and not in a good way. 😉

I don’t know much Tolkien stuff, but I do feel like you are up there giving an almighty sermon about fire and brimstone and maybe the ravages of climate change… or whatever environmental rollback the current administration is targeting today.
