Happy 4th of July

We’ve been riding but not really much to write about…..oh yea, there was another fall on the trail for me?!! We are starting to hate riding there. People just walk right in front of you and will not move and then when they do they go the opposite way and DOWN you/I go!! So, Tuesday we went north to Ft Ord we think we will start riding there more often. Maybe then I will be safe. All in all this is a nice 20 mi loop.

I think this is somewhat monochromatic?? Dunes at Ft Ord State Park.

Definitely not monochromatic!

New VA Services Center…is now open.

Lunch in the oaks.
Our friendly neighborhood frog. Have a safe 4th!!

Janet here of Jack and Janet in Seaside, CA. We just love to ride our bikes and share and read stories from other such afflicted souls.

Yikes! Rough crowd down there. Hope you’re okay. Might be time to think about mounting a bell, horn, siren, and/or cow catcher on the front of the Troll. Or upgrading to a Sherman tank. 😉

Have a bell……..was ringing it like crazy!!! On your left….on your left…….HELLO!! they finally moved to the left and then the teenager went left right in front of me!! It’s down right dangerous.

Sorry to hear about your fall, hope no serious harm was done. Those darn pedestrians, they’re just as stupid as drivers. Looks like you have some really nice alternative places for riding though.

Sorry for fall Janet. I think of some trails as quite unsafe for cyclists at certain times of the day (or year). Sounds like the one you have been riding is one of those! I have seen cyclists fall or crash for the exact reason you mention. Whenever I am passing someone I have taken to saying (yelling) “bike passing” rather than “on your left”. That because the walker does not always respond to that correctly and will move to the left or seem to not know which side to move to!!
Anyway, nice photos and good you are not hurt.

Thanks all…..the good news is I was going so slow I didn’t get hurt!! The trail is so busy now that I really just am barley moving….and yes I do all of the “hey I’m here” ring bell, on your left, behind you, hello – finally MOVE …..not really but want to so bad.

Glad you weren’t injured with your fall!
Maybe Eliza Doolittle’s line from “My Fair Lady” would be something to think about using. 😉
Thanks for posting the 4th of July Froggie!

Sorry to hear you’ve been injured again by selfish trail users. There are a couple spots in Melbourne where the pedestrians and cyclists have their own ‘lanes’ on the bike path for this very reason. Of course, people still walk in the bike part!!! Arrgh. So many people have headphones in that ringing, yelling, etc don’t work anyway. I skim them somewhat closely sometimes if they aren’t keeping ‘left’ (here) and haven’t responded to my calls – I can be evil like that. I like that Jack is camouflaged in that last photo 🙂
