Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone!

The guys and I got in a final, short ride on New Years Eve. The wind change causing terrible devastation elsewhere brought us clear skies on the southwesterly. We also got in a final two RED cars in the last 200 metres of our 2019 rides. See feature pic.

We also got in a short ride on New Year’s morning. We had to turn back early though because the smoke came in. Check it all out HERE.

This summer has been absolute shocker so far for many people. It reminds me of this Hunters and Collectors song:

Nerdy chick in Australia who loves to ride and is accompanied by the crew: 'The Commander' Verne and the 'Mental Health Specialist' Kermit.

    Happy New Year!
Good you could do a New Years Day ride — looking at satellite images, the amount of smoke is incredible.

Havent seen any flies around here for a while, I guess thats one good thing about winter. 🙂

Thanks, Rich – yeah, poor New Zealand has been copping all of our smoke! The scale of destruction this season and in the past 4 days is just unimaginable. Where I live has been lucky and not had nearly as many smoky days or as thick as smoke as Sydney, Canberra and even Albury (where I used to live) this summer.

Still, check out these stats – the records for temp and dryness have broken the old records by a huge amount.

And the flies here are bad every summer – winter is definitely a much better time for riding here since we don’t get that white stuff like you, Greg and others.

Oh, I have one more comment besides the one I left on your blog. I think your picture of one lone (dead) tree was excellent. In no way could it be called a “view-blocker.”

THanks, Greg. I’ve ridden that road quite a few times now and never noticed that tree before. It was just the way the light was that morning that made it look so ghostly in the smoke. And yes, the only view blocker at the moment is the smoke!

    Happy New Year!
Looks like a bright New Year for you, Em! Love the picture of you and the guys!

Smoke and fires very disturbing and distressing, though!

Thanks, Suzanne. Yes, even with the super hot summer, I’m feeling really good. Far from normal but so much better than before. I hope you’ve fully recovered from your virus. Yes, the smoke and fires are just phenomenal this year and likely to get much worse again this weekend. Safe travels home!
