Have Mittens, Can Bike

Although I’m not sure whether I should call them gloves or mittens. But I got the kind of winter hand gear the Nancy recommended and they are the best. Not cheap, but what sacrifice won’t I make to be able to ride my bike.

Seriously, I am developing a taste for winter riding. Not Minnesota style winter riding, mind you, but I am using my bike to get around in below freezing temperatures. They aren’t long rides but they are certainly preparing me for longer rides when it warms up a bit. Quite unexpectedly, I am enjoying it tremendously.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. I have three kids and eight grandchildren - so I'm pretty old. Cycling, photography and walking are my favorite things.

There really are some hidden pleasures in winter biking. Your picture at the top demonstrates that beautifully.

YES!!!! Those mittens look much better than the ones I have! Soooo glad that you have found the way to enjoy some colder weather riding. Like you, I don’t ride in “Minnesota style” winter riding, but I enjoy year round riding where I live.

Suzanne, I might need to get a pair of those for when the temp around here drops below 50 degrees F. 😉

Good to see you challenging yourself and enjoying it! Winter riding is nice because it just feels quieter and more still. It’s also nice not to have to contend with so many other people out on the trails, too.
