‘Holed up’ in Kilkiven

Touring bike and myself in Esk, Queensland in front of the Rainbow Lorrikeets.
Well fed Lorrikeets

A bird looking for scraps on the park table. As I don’t have my bird encyclopedia I can’t identify it.

Well I’m in the middle of a short cycling tour around Brisbane in Queensland at the moment. Having a great time touring the countryside with a little adventure and adversity thrown in. Right now it’s pouring rain and flooding so I’ll just stay put in a small little town with a friendly pub called Kilkivan. Many of the roads are under water making travelling difficult, I should be OK to move on soon. It’s all due to the ‘la nina’ in the Pacific ocean. I’ve done a few videos on Randel’s cyclevlog if interested. The Rainbow Lorikeets are a pretty bird found up the east coast and have now set up home in WA which doesn’t please the orchardists at all due to the damage they do to fruit on the trees.

I’ve got to do this all on my phone so a little tricky for a ‘neo-luddite’ like me.

Bye for now

Those Lorrikeets look very interesting and quite beautiful really. Not to the farmers though. A bit envious of anyone’s tour — yours included ;’-). Have fun.

Hope the weather clears soon — a friend from Melbourne is also in Queensland and came in from the Northern Territory. He too has remarked about the rain and had he been a week later would have been stranded.

The road is cut off to the coast, good place to tough it out. Lots of beer, friendly locals, cheap accomodation wifi etc
