In Line with the Equinox

I was going to snap a photo of the sun at noon (1PM CDT) — got busy and forgot  🙁

The Sun was 50 degrees above the horizon at noon

This photo is 4PM CDT (2100 GMT/UTC)  still, the sun has descended 23.5 degrees from the Summer Solstice and will continue another 23.5 degree at the Winter Solstice

At that time the sun will be 26.5 degrees above the horizon at noon

Loooong shadows of cyclist and stop sign pointing due east

Looking west in line with setting sun

Very quick photo looking west along Illinois Route 9 with traffic coming from both directions

Photo taken prior to 9/23 — (can’t count of clear skies) — shadows very nearly due east

A little fudge factor going on here too

View west along Elm Street

No egg balancing this time  😉

Very much enjoy all the entries you all have provided -- great to see the everyday cycling venues. Being in eastern Illinois, scenery certainly isn't our forte, but oh well, the roads are normally quiet. Look forward to more and more entries from all of you, I do have a few over on BL -- in Bill's Day Rides, and one journal.
