January Challenge #4

Found in Indiana — this is believed to be a Pre-Cambrian tillite from Canada

A lithified glacial till containing various sized fragments

The interesting thing is, it shows an outline of the Western Hemisphere

North America is recognizable, South America not quite so much

The granite clast in North America is approximately in the location of the granitic Canadian Shield

Ill bet its the only one like it in the world!   😉

Very much enjoy all the entries you all have provided -- great to see the everyday cycling venues. Being in eastern Illinois, scenery certainly isn't our forte, but oh well, the roads are normally quiet. Look forward to more and more entries from all of you, I do have a few over on BL -- in Bill's Day Rides, and one journal.

Where’s Florida? Never mind it’ll disappear when global warming happens.

True, Rich, it does look a lot like the outline of North and South America. If I turn it sideways and squint a little, it also looks a lot like my grumbly face when I crawl out of bed in the morning.

Hmmm — not only intelligent — imaginative as well! Good rock Rich ;’-)

That’s quite a rock. It took me a while, but I finally found North & South America. I also found another continent – – that granititic Canadian Shield looks a lot like Australia to me.

Also, I wonder if anybody else noticed your “lithified glacial till” thing. That was a good one. Don’t worry, I’ll keep your scientific-sounding, totally made-up, rock I.D. between us genuine Professors of Geocolology.
