July – where were we?!

I don’t know if I can remember a month in a very long time when I didn’t do a write up! I don’t think I have a very interesting reason – other than I just wasn’t compelled to do so.

We did ride, not a lot, but a fair amount (well Jack did nearly everyday). No really interesting rides just all of our usual routes which are pretty much here….

We ride some version of this nearly daily.

Along the way we see a lot of the following…….I might be ejected from here as I have very few photos with the bike in the shot. You see, I don’t really like getting off my bike to take the photo. I shoot and ride.

We have new bike lanes in Seaside. Nice right! I do like having them before we would be in this spot and people looked at us like we were crazy.
Little Bessie was in the Pride Parade 🏳️‍🌈
Along Cannery Row. Last lot left to build on.
A fun retro trailer.
Interesting carving.
Cormorants nest here every year.
50th anniversary of “Yellow Submarine” it’s in Monterey! There might still be sardine oil in these 😂 I wouldn’t want to find out.
Door at the Cooper Malara Adobe….
Check out the multi generations of locks.
This was near the adobe….just loved the colors.
I did spend one afternoon at Ft Ord.
This is the Ft Ord Ride.
Abandoned in Ft Ord.

We took a couple of trips to the Bay Area to see the Grandkids and along the way we found some fun stuff!!

Marina Bikes in Half Moon Bay.
Tafoni at Pebbley Beach Half Moon Bay.
Beautiful and interesting.
This might work for August…there’s water.
I’ve also been busy this month working on this photo. It was taken at Monterey Marina and made it into the CPA Juried Show and the 8×10 Show next month. I titled it “Free Falling”. People often assume it was taken at the Aquarium so I’m thinking of calling it “Not at the Aquarium”!

Well that’s it. Let’s see what I can find for August. It promises to be another busy month.

Janet here of Jack and Janet in Seaside, CA. We just love to ride our bikes and share and read stories from other such afflicted souls.

Congrats on getting chosen for the art show! Beautiful pics as always – looks like you’ve had some really nice days. I like the gum tree leaves and how shiny and clean Bessie looks. My bike is VERY jealous!

Little Bessie thanks Jack for her great care!! I thought if you when we found that tree…love the colors.

Great photos — the octopus is really imaginative on someone’s part — the Gary Fisher bicycle at the Marina is interesting!
The tafoni is incredible, never heard of that before. I assume veins in the sandstone are somewhat more tightly cemented that the hollowed areas between them?

Glad you enjoyed the Tafoni I love it!! We try to go by there a couple of times a year. And..marina bikes can often be very interesting!

Nice photographs, Janet. And it looks like you have plenty of nearby liquid for the Challenge of the Month for August.

Thanks Bill….I’m going to think about this months challenge…….however I have another month of several days at the tasting room. So, we shall see. This day job is getting in the way of my bike riding!

I’ll be looking out for some tafoni weathering, I’m sure I’ve seen it around locally somewhere.

Looking at the first map on your post, I have to assume “Jack’s Peak Park” is named after your Jack. Congratulations, Jack. You deserve it. I’m pretty sure a park will never bear my name.

Your pictures are fantastic Rockin’ Girl.

Thanks….not sure who Jacks peak is named for! We did ride up there once several yrs ago it’s pretty high and we decided that was enough! Think I have a photo somewhere Will look for it.
