June Challenge – Old and new… or maybe, before and after

Thank you to everyone for your kind comments about the new mountain bike. I really appreciate your support and encouragement, and I am sorry that I have not replied to your comments nor kept up and commented on your posts of late. My health has been rapidly deteriorating and I have all the energy of a lazy slug on holiday at the moment… so I just haven’t been on the computer much. My sincerest apologies.

However, we did have beautiful mid-winter weather (sunny and a top of 17C) on Friday, so I took the day off. The idea was… well… that didn’t work out. But I did manage a short, slow and gentle ride in the national park and got a couple shots for the June challenge. See below.

Old, dead leaf litter in foreground. Brand new crop in the background. Or: before all the land got cleared in the foreground and after the land got cleared in the background.
New, leafy sapling on the left. Old, dead tree on the right.

Nerdy chick in Australia who loves to ride and is accompanied by the crew: 'The Commander' Verne and the 'Mental Health Specialist' Kermit.

Nice to hear from you, Em! Love your new and old. Now if you could just get back to your old self. So sorry to hear that you’ve had a setback with your health. Very best wishes.

Thanks, Suzanne. If I ever get the post done for this ride on my website, I do talk about ‘old’ and ‘new’ Em – but that didn’t qualify for the challenge. I hope to get to your glacial erratics post in the next few days – you know I love a good rock story. I hope you are all settled in to your new home and finally have internet established.

That doesn’t look like a Salsa in those photos — πŸ˜‰
    There is a possibility for Old and New there. . . . . . .
Hope you regain your strength soon to enjoy the Salsa!

Oh yes, Salsa was Plan A but that didn’t happen for various reasons. I still love my touring bike though and I will still use it most of the time – the Salsa is for trail riding and stuff too rough for The Wizard.

So nice to see you here Em. I have been wondering in a concerned way about you. I suppose the big trip to the states may have taken a lot out of you, and sure hope you regain strength and the health you have been working on. Love your stories and your photos every time you post.

I know there is no need for you to apologize for not responding to posts! I seem to get behind in that as well, and I have no real excuse ;’-0

Thank you, Nancy – I have really had to prioritize energy for the past month. Go to work, come home, eat, shower, sleep 12 hours and do it again. I am sad to be missing everyone’s rides!

Em, I don’t know your health history, but can relate to feeling like a slug. When any of my autoimmune problems flare, I can hardly move off the couch. I do hope your are better soon!

Thank you! I know many strong women dealing with auto-immune issues – it is so unfair! I don’t know what is wrong with me yet, but I just had more blood tests on Monday. I was cleared of auto-immune stuff last Sept, but my doc is running those tests again, and a whole bunch of other new tests related to my new symptoms. Ugh. But we muddle through, right?!
