Kaffeenierung in Bavaria – Ride 2

A warm October day, wow, I’ve never seen October weather like this. I hopped on my bike for a short ride, my goal today was Nymphenburg Palace. On a lovely Saturday there were plenty of people there. Janos didn’t want to get trampled and stayed home. But it wasn’t that bad. Behind the palace is a big park which has a central area that is modeled after the formal French gardens, and surrounding that is the English or informal part of the park, more like a walk in the woods.

First I locked up my bike since you are not allowed to take your bike on the park grounds. There were many bikes there.

Here you see the palace and the formal gardens.

There is a palm house and an old green house, which is not open to the public but I could peek in.

I then took a walk in the woods.

I remembered to look down and saw such nice mushrooms.

I didn’t like the looks of the busy park cafe and rode home, wondering where I was going to consume a beverage. If it hadn’t been a challenge ride, I would have just gone home. But today I cruised the neighborhood and stopped at a cafe that I had never frequented before, the Revolution Cafe. I had a glass of white wine and a plate of black olives, a perfect finish for my outing.

Altogether 14 km.

Warmish days this late are a treasure and so is this beautiful palace. Chilly enough here that I’m in jeans and a sweatshirt. Hopefully, we’ll get some Indian summer days before winter arrives.

Hi Suzanne. Great pictures as usual and I would really like to sit outside the Revolution Cafe – it looks like it has a glow from tasty food inside. Welcoming.

Now that I know the difference between French and English gardens I can appreciate the photos even more.

Revolution Cafe. How perfect. And a walk in the woods. And that mushroom with the leaf photo is wonderful too. A perfect ride for kaffeenierung! Makes me wish I was there ;’-)
