Life after CLC – The 100 Days Challenge

We are looking for a new challenge – how about a challenge for the whole year? I do something I call “The 100 Rides Challenge”.

The challenge is simple: take pictures of your bike or others’ bikes who are riding with you from rides in one year. No rules except that you can only post one picture from any single day, showing that you have been out on your bike on each of those days.

Choose your very best or favorite picture of your bike (or your riding partner’s) from that day and post it with the day number, date and perhaps some additional information about location, occasion or whatever you wish.

The rides can be of any length, no purchases necessary, just one picture of your bike.

The number of rides is arbitrary. I set 100 as my goal for the challenge (I have 19 so far).

Maybe 100 in the name of the challenge isn’t so good if people set different goals? Maybe “Cycle Days Challenge”?

Any other ideas or suggestions?

Your post could look like this:

My 100 Rides Challenge

Day 19/100 – April 24, 2018
Taken in Olympia Park, Munich, on the way home from the Botanic Garden.
…………………………………………………………………………………………….

Pretty simple. I have been having fun keeping track of my days out on the bike and have posted my pictures on my own website so far. Click here if you want to look. I don’t do everyday shopping rides but if you want, you can. I started in April but included rides from the beginning of the year (just one) as well as rides from the CLC2018.

What do you think? Scott would add a category for the challenge if there is interest.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

I added a new category: Bike of the day. Suggestions for a better name? It’s easy enough to change. Also I tagged your post to it.

Also I added a new supercategory, Challenges, and included this and CLC under it.

Right, Tony, always good to have another reason to ride and shoot. For me also a challenge to think of new and creative ways to photograph my bike.

Having arrived late to the party, I have missed most of the year for Days Cycling Challenge. So —- I will try to join for the remaining three months of 2018 ;’-). I will have to take a (reasonable) guess at the number of rides (barring riding for errands) for those months. Will look at my calendar and come up with a number as my goal.
    See you later ;’-)

Glad you’re joining, Nancy! Looking forward to seeing what you set as your goal!

Well you see, I missed following through with this challenge and goal setting. Too much for me to process I think. But now I feel more onboard and am ready to join you for this upcoming year of 2020. I am hopeful you will continue the challenge, and I will set my goal at 100 Days, omitting errand run rides. That is about the only rule I will start out with for myself plus the one photo of a bike on each riding day.

I think posting one time a month with any ride day photos will work, so will try for that.

Thanks for joining me, Nancy! Sometimes my rides are really short. The challenge has turned out to be to ride and get a decent picture… and not always the same one. And somewhere along the line the challenge became ride every day.

Like most of us — I like riding for any reason ;’-). Riding for a photo is often my motivator. I will enjoy being along for you challenge.

oh well, I had actually forgotten about this challenge!! Probably a good thing though, given the apocalypse of 2020!!!!! I have ridden many days, and taken a photo of most, but neglected to post here for this challenge so .. I have not yet participated with you Suzanne.

So, whether or not I succeed, I am setting a goal for a photo of bike a day for 15 from now to te end of 2020. That sounds wimply I know, but the smoke here may not allow much bike riding for the remainder of this month of September. That gives me MAYBE 3 good months to ride considering it will be winter. I will have to choose some decent winter riding days ;’-).

Let’s see if I can remember THIS time. Let’s see what I can do.
