May challenge. Nerd visits a new museum.

WA Museum looking north

Last week I checked out the new WA Museum for the first time. It’s been open for about half a year since they built the new building above some of the original buildings, which is pretty amazing for a nerd like me to wait so long. If you doubt my nerdiness, I did spend a year at my school library at lunch time reading the Encyclopaedia Britannica from A-Z, well there was no internet then.

The main entrance

There’s lots of new displays and old ones as well. WA Museum Boola Bardip | Western Australian Museum. I really enjoyed my visit especially all the exhibits such as dinosaurs, geology, astronomy, history and its free for the rest of the year.

Getting my body temperature checked, I passed.

To stop the spread of Covid I had to get my temperature checked ,sign in using the SafeWA App on my phone on the Museum QR code which is compulsory everywhere in WA and also most Australians have a COVIDSafe app on their phone which records where you go and automatically deletes after 2 weeks. I don’t think the freedom loving Americans would put up with all this monitoring but it has meant no virus in the community. We’ve been very successful in eliminating the virus and building a safe gilded cage. The only problem is eventually we’ll have to let non-citizens into the country and even if they’ve been vaccinated the virus will come with them. Most people are happy with us becoming a hermit kingdom however some businesses in tourism and education want the borders open. I think the government will have to make some tough decisions eventually.

The sharks today are scary enough, millions of years ago they were three times bigger.
Skeleton of the largest animal ever, The Blue Whale.
The chaotic assemblage of cycling essentials. Tube, pump, helmet mirror, sun burn cream, energy bar, chain link, chain oil, light, headphones and my phone will go in there too.

Happy crankin everyone.

PS I can guarantee that I’ve never taken a photo of that sunset in the featured photo before too.

I live in the hills just east of the city of Perth, Western Australia and I've loved cycling all my life, From riding to primary school when I was 8 years old to cycle touring as a grumpy old man. Cycling is freedom on two wheels and I love getting on my bike at any opportunity.

That’s a pretty scary shark picture! Had a good laugh.
The Germans are being kind of stand offish about being monitored. Such a fuss although the same people don’t care if Facebook knows much more about them than what the Covid app records.

I noticed that Germany has no ‘Street view’ on Google maps too

That is a fascinating museum! Amazing how they built new atop the old.
    The sunset photo is outstanding!

It is some amazing architecture and engineering I reckon.

If you were a REAL nerd you’d have a pocket protector and a strip of tape holding your glasses together at the bridge of your nose. But I’ll give you credit for the nerdy shark picture.

You doubt my Nerdyness and geekyness. I wear socks with my scandals and like playing chess and scrabble too. Being a Green Bay fan is just an aberration.

I admire you for wearing your socks while engaged in those “scandals.” How many scandals have there been. (Ha ha, it’s probably too late to correct your typo, so people will always remember you for being the scandalous, sock-wearing nerd.)

It might reflect my mental state, organised chaos.
