MIA In Monterey

We are still here!! Until the past two weeks I was riding Surly Girl daily…..you know the ‘normal’ ride. However, two weeks ago I was selected for Jury Duty in Salinas. The case is lasting at a minimum three weeks…..that means NO BIKE RIDES for me. The only good news is that just about that time it started raining everyday so I don’t feel like I’m being deprived as I most likely wouldn’t be riding anyway. The rain has not been the kind you want to go ahead and ride in….it’s that constant pouring kind with lot’s of wind. The saving grace is Rainbows 🌈 we have been blessed with these amazing rainbows.

This was leaving the court house Monday. It covers the flag I never posted and red. Let’s hope I get to ride Surly Girl one more time before 2020!!

Janet here of Jack and Janet in Seaside, CA. We just love to ride our bikes and share and read stories from other such afflicted souls.

Red and flags … there must be a kid hiding somewhere. And don’t you just love rainbows!

Great photo! Im surprised you had your phone/camera as you left.

No phones, cameras or practically anything else allowed in the courthouse in Danville.

They were allowed in but needed to be off/vibrate! I have brand new hearing aids I just got and forgot they rang through/into my ear. I got a call and thought the entire room could hear it…..I turned mine off after that!!

Love the rainbow. At least, it appears, you have some sun with that rain ;’-). I agree that poor riding weather best comes when one has indoor responsibilities. I will hope for you to ride at least one more time before this year ends ;’-)

It’s been raining for days…..flooding even. One poor woman was late by an hour the other day and then I heard on the radio going home last night the entire 101 South/North Hwy was closed from flooding down her way near Chular! I hope she made it ok.

Great photo! Every time the weather folks on Bay Area TV channels show the “fire hose” of rain pointing at Monterey — and that’s been going on, as you know, for about a week — I wonder if you and Jack are pedaling in the downpour. We’ve had the same thing up here, but not quite as much. Went from zero to 95 percent of normal precipitation in a few days. Stay dry!

I’m glad your region is finally getting the rain, but I know it sucks from a cyclist’s perspective. Jury duty might suck even more. I hope your court case ends early so you can make more use of Surly Girl.

I like the pic to go with your responsibilities as a citizen. Glad you’ve got some precip to rebuild soil moisture levels – but I hope it and the trial give you a break so you can get in more 2019 rides.

Sitting all day again for two weeks has been very interesting…..I’ve made myself do the stairs and to do them with each break (yesterday that was five times) there are 48 stairs each time (3rd floor) so that and a little walk if it isn’t raining to hard and I’ve a least moved a little. Like I said to Bill – wished we didn’t get an entire season of rain in one week. The fields are flooding as they can’t soak it up this fast and the drains in town can’t handle all the run off…..”when it rains it pours” I guess is true.
