My Yellow Trike

It’s my birthday.  Another step into the 70’s and time for an addition to the bicycle stable.  So I visited Melbourne for the day, picked the trike up and brought it back on the Ferry.

Here is the Greenspeed Anura on a cycle path by Port Phillip Bay on a wild day.  The Tassie ferry is on the horizon – the red and white speck.  Anura in Latin refers to short bodied, tailless amphibians.  Trikes with two wheels at the front are commonly  called “tadpoles” and with two at the back “delta” or “frog”.  Hence the name Anura.

I suspect you may see more of the Anura in future posts.

    Hi Tony,

    (1) Nice looking machine. I suspect Kathleen will be especially interested in the Antipodean cousin of her beloved Pokey.

    (2) Great photo of trike at the gate/mouth.

    (3) Next time, you won’t need the ferry. You can pedal across Cullimore Bridge. 😉

Thanks Gary. It’s actually something like 10 years old but in good condition. I am looking forward to pedalling around once our current crop of storms has gone past. There was so much water in Hobart last night cars were floating!

Hey, you’re in St Kilda! That was our base when we visited Melbourne years ago. Happy birthday!

St Kilda indeed. After the purchase I took it along the Beach Road cycle path while I waited for ferry boarding time. Although windy and with occasional rain a surprising number of cyclists were out and about.

    Happy Birthday, Tony!
Great looking trike! You couldn’t have chosen a better birthday present.
Is a trike in my future as I approach the 80’s? I can’t imagine riding one in traffic, though. How is that for you?

Happy Birthday, Tony. Glad your trike didn’t get eaten by that scary clown.

Happy Birthday, Tony!! What an excuse to head to the mainland. It is always exciting to add a new bike to the stable and learn all of its secrets. Kermit approves of a frog trike, too. Hope you get some good weather after the latest blast to try out the trike on different terrain and surfaces, etc.
