Being a Rainiac, or on the Rainiac Team for November, I could not allow the threat of rain deter me from a ride today. I did look closely at the forecast and it seemed I might have a good window (but no sucker hole) in the early part of the morning. Sooooo… I got geared up and on my bike at 8:30 this morning. It was a bit cold, but not raining (yet).

This piece of art is tucked away behind the nearby elementary school. I found it a couple of years ago while doing my local exploring, and saw a paved trail that intrigued me to follow where it went. Turned out it went by this..

I was of course pleasantly surprised to find this art work, but more impressed when I noticed the attached placard.

First and second graders! Quite talented young artists, I with not an ounce of art talent in me, thinks.

When I took the Grands on this little ride a while back and showed them the “cocoon”, the then 7 year old grandson was sure to correct me that it is not a cocoon —- it is a chrysalis. My error.

Gradually it did begin to rain, slowly at first and pick up intensity as the mid-morning continued. Now already wet, and warmed up, I extended my ride through my neighborhood and came across this guy waiting for the rain to stop.

Had a great morning riding in some rain ;’-)

Nice ride in the rain. What’s that like? Of course I too knew that was a chrysalis and not a cocoon. *cough*

I knew there was a cocoon and a chrysalis, I did not recall what the difference was. He knew!

Somehow a movie called Chrysalis just wouldn’t sound right. 😉
(Being a Senior, I remember that movie — was almost nominated to be the Illinois State Fossil.)
