One “R” or Two

The sun finally reappeared this morning. Seems like it has been hidden by the marine layer around here for a week, although that might be an exaggeration.
I need to wait a couple more days before I undertake a ride I’ve been thinking about for awhile, so today I figured I should stretch my legs with a few miles on roads and bike paths leading from Santa Rosa to Forestville and back.
Pedaling to Forestville made me think about a friend who died recently. According to historical records, he always insisted, the town was named after a man named Forrest. That is, with two R’s. It was kind of a joke, but for years he conducted a one-man campaign seeking to officially rename the town by inserting the missing consonant in order to honor the founder. That story always brings a smile to my face. Maybe one day I’ll carry a can of spray paint and a giant magic marker with me and settle this spelling thing once and for all for my old friend.

From the look of the last photo….your friend was correct!
Yep, a little image editing might have been enough to satisfy him. 😉
Looks like you had a verry pleasant day to rride. And it looks like you have well and trruly brroken in the Surrly Ogrre at this point. I love the lushness of the vegetation on the brridge photo.
Thank you verry, verry much.
