Powell Butte

Today’s cold ride to Powell Butte surprises me by having just enough snow to craft a small snowman at its summit.  I’ve checked with the Rules Committee, and they’ve assured me that it’s fine to post another snowman for Greg.  With it so cold today, it might as well still be February anyway.  Also, I think this counts as a coffeeneuring ride because we built up an appetite for the fine birthday dinner.

Other than that it’s just another ride, more of the usual for this time of year – meaning on a clear day like today you get some enormous views of the volcanoes.

And, as long as I was posting anyway, it seemed like the right time to promote Safe Cycling to a different audience.  Hopefully Old Grumbleface won’t be offended or charge royalties.

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.

What a darling little snowperson! How about “Frosty the Snowman” for the challenge?

Oh, I forgot about the song! I had one in mind actually but then left it on the cutting board. Thanks for the reminder; next time.

As the resident snowman aficionado, I must say I really like your little snowman. But where did you get the snow? I assume you either found some in a shady area or else you hauled it with you all the way from that distant volcano.

Oh, I see I forgot to mention my 100 mile side trip up to Mount Hood yesterday morning. I packed the pannier with snow, but by the time I made it back to Powell Butte this was all that remained.

Great ride. It made me think of the song “Windy” by the Associates in the 1960s.

Glad you got your birthday girl and Elizabeth their pre-birthday treats. Things are changing quickly in Oregon & the restaurant outing may not have been an option even a day or two later.
Beautiful views from your pictures and I didn’t have to be out in the cold riding to appreciate them. Thanks!! Cheers & happy pedaling. Stay healthy!

That’s a very fine snowman and some really nice clear day photos. Not pumping up tires and then realising that you really, really need to and have to do it on the side of the road has caught me out a few times. I curse at myself each time: “Silly woman, you could have done this in comfort before we left!”

    How about this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmrkY-EZy74
