December Challenge: Red is the new Black

Yo I’m back! Been absent from this site for a little stretch as I’d been overseeing a big project at work. A lot of time spent staring at a computer screen during the working day. So it’s RED for December! One of the bunches I ride with here in Tasmania is The Herd. Their new club kit is a red/black combo and stands out well on the road. They’re a triathlon orientated group, but we won’t hold that against them…

That’s me front right in the red Woking CC kit (the only one not in Herd kit). My release from the stresses of the work day is cycling – and getting out with a great bunch for a social ride followed by coffee and cake is the ideal way to spend a weekend morning! I try and ride with The Herd as often as time allows. Their Saturday morning ride is a 60km social paced jaunt starting and finishing at a cafe. I try and arrive early and knock out a solo 40km beforehand to bring my total to 100km for the morning. Great training.

I know for many of you it’s heading deep into a dark and cold winter, but down here in Tasmania we’re seeing the light. It’s just the start of Summer, so there’s plenty of great cycling weather ahead.

The sound of a perfectly lubed chain whirring through a fresh drivetrain, slick summer tyres humming across the blacktop as you spin, otherwise silently over country roads early in the morning.

    Spot on, couldn’t agree more.

Great to see you back! We’ve missed you. And thanks for the Instagram link. I just signed up myself, after a friend nagged me. I must be one of the last folks in the western world to check it out.

    Good to see you back!
Yes, I would say 100km/60 miles is good training and a great stress reliever — 1/10th of that normally works for me. 😉

Yes, cycling is the best stress reliever. Glad you’re back in action, Tempo-guy.

Howdy, Tempo. Looking very dashing in “Californian Red.” Speaking of Woking CC, I visited Woking once about twenty years ago to see an old friend, since deceased. I don’t remember much about the area, except that it seemed to be a very pleasant, leafy, civilized place, although maybe that was just his neighborhood.
