RIDE #75: 27 MAY 2018

It is an understatement to say I enjoy cycling.  I really enjoy cycling.  Enough to ride every other day so far in 2018.

I especially enjoy rides to new places.  This ride was mostly along familiar ground to and then along the Guthrie Corridor Expressway.  We had some time to burn while waiting to connect with a group which was riding from a different start point.  So we went exploring in an area that isn’t on the map yet.

Elmina Valley 3 is the latest phase in the City of Elmina.  Pitched as “Greater KL’s premier wellness themed township.”  Development is more advanced than shown in this satellite photograph, but not by much.

The site includes pavilions overlooking man-made lakes.

And there is a bridge!

At this point, there were four of us.

The group grew to twelve when we met up with the others.

As always, a good time was had by all.  Good times with friends is the main reason I enjoy cycling so much.  I will ride alone if I must, but much prefer to ride in the company of others.

Sadly today we had a reminder of the inherent risk cycling entails.  A former colleague of mine and a friend of some in the group above was hit from behind by a car while riding in another part of the city.  Given the circumstances of the accident, he is lucky to get away with fractures and scrapes.

Be safe out there everyone!

    That is a beautiful development!
Glad your former colleague and friend of your friends survived being hit and recovers soon to resume cycling.

Thank you Rich. He has a couple of fractures which will take some time to mend. Fortunately, no surgery required. He is a lucky guy to not have more serious injuries.
