Ride to Cheneyville, Illinois

Raleigh at KBS Railroad

The 6th Annual River to Rail ride is slated for September 7th

Colleague Dave and I plan to ride again this year — 32 mile route — there is also a 50 and 62 mile route.  We decided to do a loop east of town through Cheneyville as a little prep.

Much of the River to Rail route will be similar to the photos here — grain fields, farms, and tiny towns — there are also some sections near Kennekuk County Park and the town of Potomac which are much more wooded.  Click the link for a video tour of the park.

Very much enjoy all the entries you all have provided -- great to see the everyday cycling venues. Being in eastern Illinois, scenery certainly isn't our forte, but oh well, the roads are normally quiet. Look forward to more and more entries from all of you, I do have a few over on BL -- in Bill's Day Rides, and one journal.

It’s good to stop for trains….yes!! Crops are looking good…love the native prairie field. Back in Junction City in the Flint Hills they even do burns every spring – the hills are so beautiful now with color in the spring and fall.
