Ride to the Salvage Yard

You just never know what might be found at JR’s Salvage south of town.  Friend Dave and I, have pulled some decent bicycles out of there and with a little TLC have become very rideable.  Treks, Raleighs, and a Centurian to name a few.  One came from Cycle Smithy in Chicago — an upscale bicycle store with a pretty cool museum of vintage bicycles.

The corn continues to grow near Party Bridge.

Two Raleighs arrive at JR’s.

Not a pretty sight — the dumpster will go to Danville, IL, where the metal will be recycled — which is why some fixable bicycles were rescued.  We (Dave) just couldn’t let that happen.

Today’s ‘find’ — some mini panniers on the back of a Huffy mountain bike.  At first I thought that was G-2 in a Star Wars helmet in the background.

For a donated dollar, these might work ok  🙂

Very much enjoy all the entries you all have provided -- great to see the everyday cycling venues. Being in eastern Illinois, scenery certainly isn't our forte, but oh well, the roads are normally quiet. Look forward to more and more entries from all of you, I do have a few over on BL -- in Bill's Day Rides, and one journal.

I’m not sure whether I’d call those tiny panniers ‘dainty’ or ‘cute’, but they were certainly a bargain for a buck. Good to see the leaves fully out on the trees, too!
