Riding A Bicycle During Car Week!!

In many ways it’s (bicycling) the only way to get around……however I did have to drive a fair amount this week as I worked several days at the tasting room and poured wine at some private events. When not working I was out and about on Little Bessie, she loves the crowds don’t you know. This is a composite of five rides during the week. The week includes many auctions and one sold a 1962 Ferrari for $48 Million…….yes million dollars. That is basically obscene to me…..what could one school district do with that much money or one non profit that works with kids?! ok that’s it for my soap box.

Come join me for a ride………

First day out I found this amazing car. It’s a LaBestioni 1915. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Car.
Not only are there cars but they come in fancy yachts and private air planes too. This works for water, right?!
This one was out by the Pacifi Grove Golf Course. Reminded me of one a friend had in high school not as pretty but lowered an all. Think his was a Mercury. This is one of maybe 50 large tents around town to hold cars.
This counts as water too. I was going to take a photo of his car by the water then he suddenly appeared to finish the shot. A McLaren I think. As I’m writing this outside on my patio, it’s finally sunny, I can hear all the cars leaving town! I’m going to be glad when I can’t hear them roaring up the street!!
Little Bessie was enjoying the ride.

Saturday Jack and I got out early to the Concourse de Lemons. On the way there we passed Reggie Jackson’s garage. You could tour for $20. He has quite a collection. He still lives around here. On my way home from today’s ride I stopped to see if it was still open. Sadly no…..he was one of my favorite players!! There was a young kid out front that was a spitting image of him had to be related. I’ll meet him someday.

Wild Bill’s Tattoos and pretty cars.

We found Wild Bill on Saturday😃

This bumper sticker says “No, I’m NOT Going To Paint It”!

This guy tours in this! Over 500,000 miles.

Kathleen he does maps!

Meanwhile Bentley and Little Bessie are the talk of the show.

This was Donna Reed’s Edsel.

Jack looking for a new car.

We followed this little guy he seemed to know his bikes and cars.

Standard lunch spot.

Janet went back down to the Exotics On Cannery Row. Way to many people!!

Today I was feeling like I was being followed.

This Bell was the most used item this week!! People were so clueless as to where they were. I can’t tell you how many times I rang it….by the time I got home and put her up today I nearly had a blister.

Oh man I just had such a scare!! My iPad crashed and I thought I lost it all…but it was here thank you tech gods!!

I also went to the Monterey Museum of Art this week and the current exhibit is of the work of a woman painter E. Carlton Fortune. She grew up in SAN Francisco and used a bicycle to get around town when she was painting in France.

She was quite the rebel.

Oh yea…..these two dropped by the tasting room Monday. They weren’t on their way to a car event but to Pt Lobos! Always fun to see our Goddess and BJ.

Always a smile!!

Hope you enjoyed the week…..now let’s get back to normal!

Janet here of Jack and Janet in Seaside, CA. We just love to ride our bikes and share and read stories from other such afflicted souls.

I think I like the beat up cars most, they have real personality. Did you get a tattoo? It goes to a good cause.

That is quite a compilation of rides! Great photos and subjects.
(The CNN article says a 1963 Ferrari sold privately for 70 million! — Couldnt agree with you more!)
Thanks for a very interesting series of rides.
