Do propellers qualify? They’re spinning too fast to see their radiant pattern, but trust me.
So we landed in Zagreb last night; and other than a few tense interactions, everything went as well as we could have hoped. The tour is on!
I have to say though that seeing the news of fires erupting along the west coast just as we left makes me feel guilty about being here, and a bit of a jinx. It’s just the latest in a series of narrow escapes.
About a decade ago, we took a month long autumn tour through Sardinia and Italy, ending up at Cinque Terre. We had outstanding weather the entire month; but the last day we were there, fires broke out in Cinque Terre just a few miles from us; and the next day torrential rains and flooding overwhelmed the region.
Two years ago, we took a January tour of Hawaii’s Big Island. A few months later Kilauea erupted massively and the roads we were just riding over were buried in lava.
Last spring in southern Italy, we took a day boat tour to visit the volcanic island of Stromboli. Perhaps two weeks later Stromboli experienced a massive eruption and folks were jumping into the sea.
I’m sure there’s a message here, other than the obvious one that the members of Team Anderson have had way more good luck than they’re entitled to. Another one is probably to not follow in our footsteps too closely. Keep your distance!
Good luck and good heath, everyone!
